Hi, all -
liv suggested I posted this here. I'm looking for songs for a playlist I'm calling "always winter and never christmas".
So far I have:
A Hazy Shade of Winter - Simon & Garfunkel
A Long December - Counting Crows
California Dreamin' - The Mamas & The Papas
Hockey - Jane Siberry
River - Joni Mitchell (though I'd be happy for suggestions of more good versions)
Song for a Winter's Night - Gordon Lightfoot (and also Erica Wheeler's version)
Winter Flowers - Martha Tilston
Snows of New York - Chris de Burgh
Winter - Tori Amos
Valley Winter Song - Fountains of Wayne
What would other people suggest, that would fit in well with these?

Moving Pictures Silent Films by Great Lake Swimmers (youtube link)
By Winter's End by Cuff the Duke (youtube link)
Winter Winds by Mumford & Sons (youtube link)
(a bit more rock from here on)
This Winter I Retire by Said the Whale (youtube link)
Montréal -40°C (Rhume de Sinus) by Malajube (youtube link)
Heart of the City by Arkells - contains snow and New Year's Eve (youtube link)
This City's a Mess by Said the Whale - has snow and mentions Christmas (youtube link)
(neither of those last two are really holiday songs, despite the references, though)

Date: 15/09/2011 08:38 (UTC)All About Eve: December
Laura Veirs: Through December
Au Revoir Simone: Fallen snow
Catie Curtis: Hey California (mostly about harsh east coast winters)
Guns 'n' Roses: November rain (do we count November as winter?)
Untoten: Wintermärchen
Sort of relevant, though it doesn't quite fit with the "never Christmas" theme:
Loreena McKennitt: All Souls' Night

I like the Catie Curtis - that one's just perfect.
