♬ maybe, sparrow - neko case
♬ the crane wife - the decemberists
♬ snow owl - the mountain goats
♬ the cuckoo - kristen hersh

if anyone knows other songs addressing or about birds, please share!

"Bird as Prophet" by Christine Fellows is amazing, and there's also "One with the Birds" by Bonnie 'Prince' Billy? Or were you looking for specific birds? "One Dove" by Antony and the Johnsons is pretty much all metaphor, but hey, there's a dove.

Dave Carter & Tracy Grammer - I Go Like the Raven
Honeyhoney - Black Crows
Old 97's - Bird in a Cage
The Weepies - Hummingbird
White Stripes - Little Bird
Annie Lennox - Little Bird
Elizabeth Mitchell - Little Bird

Those last three are different songs; I don't know why the title is so popular.

There's also Bird on a Wire, though I'm not sure if that's avian enough for your purposes.

Not sure this is what you're looking for as most of these are very loosely connected to birds:

Agnes Obel - Brother Sparrow
Born Ruffians - Hummingbird
Horse Feathers - Starved Robins
Devendra Banhard - Owl Eyes
Moddi - Magpie Eggs
Keren Ann - Spanish Song Bird
Jimi Hendrix - Little Wing

Some I forgot:

Elliot Smith - Ostrich and Chirping
José González - The Nest
Caetano Veloso - Cucurrucucú Paloma
Sufjan Stevens - The Owl and the Tanager
L'Amour est un oiseau rebelle from Bizet's Carmen just to name one piece of classical music. There are tons of them about birds.

If you're into jazz many pieces from Charlie "The Bird" Parker have titles referring to birds.

(it's an unreleased song. also, not sure it's so much 'about' birds, but well... you can listen and decide.)

rain king by counting crows

rockin' robin by the jackson 5

also, you might look for a version of 'his eye is on the sparrow'. it's a gospel song that's been sung by tons of people.

Regina Spektor - Two Birds is one of my favourites. There's also the Old Canes - Little Bird Courage, Paul Dempsey - Bird in a Basement, Stars - Window Bird, the Axis of Awesome - Birdplane and an entire band called Bird by Bird. and a singer named Andrew Bird. Those might be less relevant though xD

How about "Blackbird" by The Beatles and "ALbatross" by Fleetwood Mac?

First thing that comes to my mind is the traditional ballad "The Three Ravens" and its cynical counterpart "Twa Corbies"... :D

They Might Be Giants: Little birdhouse in your soul (just to earworm everybody)
Wolfsheim: The sparrows and the nightingales
Hem: Old Adam (Adam is a crow!)

I have never been quite sure whether Nirvana's Polly is actually about a parrot, but it might be.

A bit more random: Venetian Snares has a couple of (mostly instrumental) tracks about birds on their album with the Hungarian titles, Rossz csillag alatt született. Wikipedia says that Galamb egyedül and Második galamb are about pigeons, and Szamár madár means "stupid bird".

The Meat Puppets song Whirlpool mentions an albatross: it was stolen by a monkey, who sold it to an albatross

Famous flower of serving men has a random dove in it, which tells the king the secret of Sweet William who is really a woman in disguise.

I can also think of a few songs where "my dove" is used as an epithet for the beloved, but those probably don't count.

47 bird tracks on Spotify. 17 songs with generic / unspecified birds. And the rest, in approximately alphabetical order: couple of albatrosses, a crane, several crows, two cuckoos, three doves, two hummingbirds, two magpies, one ostrich, two owls, a parrot (?), a couple of ravens, a robin, a rooster, a bunch of sparrows and a Spanish songbird. That makes a pretty good aviary, I'd say!

Sadly no Beatles or Jimi Hendrix because those aren't available on the internet much.
